Buy Natural Foods and Save Money!!!

Did you ever think that you can save a lots of money by eating organic food, yeah, you got it right you might have heard various outlets which sell organic food that is real healthy for your body, well but some may turn down buying it because its costly, that’s a common perception I feel, are they really costly as people think? Frankly speaking it all depends on the place you shop from, the quality of the product or how savvy you are in selecting the items you eat, I suggest you 15 of such ways which will help you eat more whole and natural foods by paying less $$$!!!

Natural Food

The rules that you should follow while buying Natural food items:

  • Discover genuine sellers first, they might not have a total natural or organic items just picked up from farms but they are more natural, made with whole food which will add a good amount of fiber to your body. These food items are less costly but are available in wide varieties, if you are looking to seriously buy natural food without artificial ingredients, trans fats or HFCS then don’t spend or waste your time there rather straight head to Trader Joe’s.
  • Before you start buying, learn the ways to shop and buy genuine items, if you are visiting some big shop you may come across many gourmet food items determining prices like an arm and a leg price. Make use of smart shopping tricks and save your money.
    • Buy only the brand with the name 365, here you will get food items almost same as conventional store prices which you can find in grocery stores.
    • The chicken and turkey are priced fairly enough but fish and beef are costly here. For seafood item you can go to your local grocery store and also make sure these are not farm raised, you will save a lot of money and also get a good fish. While you go shopping at MA you are at an advantage as they have wild fish and their natural brand is termed as “Full circle”, they come in vacuum packed bags so it’s really a great advantage. If you are a beef eater, cut down on the number of times you eat it in a week, try to eat just twice a month, eating organic food is any time better than eating these high calorie, high cholesterol food. Check out in your local grocery store whether they have any original organic items to eat.
    • If you are out to buy major grocery items for your kitchen, then I advise you not to buy from Whole food, only buy the items which you will get exclusively from the store, you may buy items which you are sure you will get in the most pure and organic form from the store.
  • For buying your deli meats, select the store baked meats don’t head to whole foods as that may sound to be very expensive. The store baked meats tastes best because they don’t add much of preservatives and fresh stocks come daily. For buying the deli meat, there is no need to search for organic items, in the baking store you can get nicely cut fresh meat and not in packaged containers which you will get in big store, this way you can save lots of money by spending few minutes in a line.
  • If you are attracted towards buying organic items on a regular basis, make a point not to buy organic boxed items from any regular grocery store, instead opt for places like whole foods or Trader Joe’s where you will get your organic stuff at cheaper rates as they specialize in it.
  • If you are washing your fruits and vegetables thoroughly then you may be successfully in washing off all the chemical residue, the good rule is to buy an organic items if you are going to exterior of fruits also but if you are going to eat only the inside portion than its best preferred to go for conventional food items.
  • When you are eating organic, it’s the natural food you are opting for and you cannot go wrong in selecting the simple ingredients you need daily. Normally, when you buy packaged items, the costs increases due to packaging, processing and boxing, etc. produce organic food at home that will cost you cheaper and healthier too.
  • You can buy packaged milk because you cant have a dairy farm at your doorstep, other than milk avoid buying too much of bottled beverages like colas, etc. which are unhealthy. At home you can prepare iced tea or coffee that is much healthier than aerated drinks, drink maximum water you can in a day.
  • When you buy Organic food it doesn’t mean its much healthier than normal food, its just that it contains less chemicals and is a better option to eat, in fact there are lots of non-organic food items which are very nutritious, veggies, fruits and whole grains are as much nutritious as any organic item. Although we might not be able to distinguish it thoroughly, there is a difference, an organic orange and a conventional orange contains same quantity of minerals and vitamins, other non-organic food items like chex, raisin bran, shredded wheat are very nutritious and costs lesser too and are easily available in any shop.
  • When you go shopping, don’t waste your money buying high fat content food items, a chip will always remain a chip with same high fat value whether its organic or no. Eat high calorie food items sparingly so it wont make much of a difference in your body system.
  • Turning organic doesn’t mean you should be buying frozen meals, frozen stuff is always high in salts for preservation, remember this fact. Whether its organic frozen meal or conventional meal it will contain same high value salts, so avoid it as they are unhealthy to eat.
  • As the term organic is getting more popular, there are many grocery stores offering natural food products which are cheaper than normal conventional food items of similar category.
  • Buy the food in proper quantity you need, don’t buy in lots. You can make a list of the meals you will be preparing for the week and then to grocery outlet to specifically buy the items in the list given, avoid more canned items next time when you go shopping that is the healthier way to live life.
  • Buy items you find it more natural and organic, try whole grain pasta than your usual pasta. Find grocery stores which offer you genuine organic food products which costs less. Save money by buying organic food and at the same time taking care of your health too.
  • Don’t shop at different places just to save a little money, visit specialty stores where you will get all the items healthy like Costco’s or trader Joe’s, etc. you can stock up items for a month which will let you save money every week which you would have otherwise spend on buying unwanted items.
  • If you are really keen to start on a healthy diet with organic food items then you can join local food coop, you will get vegetables, fruits and meat at great rates from local farmers.

  1. I believe the two main issues for eating are cost and time. Its much easier (and cheaper) to put something that is store bought and gets thrown in the microwave. Granted its not healthy… Personally I love to go to my local farmers market for my fresh veggies and fruits. Other than that I always make sure to buy whole grain bread and pasta. I tend to stay away from dairy. I like to drink Almond milk.. freshly made too!

Some simple things to follow while shopping for groceries:

We should create a grocery list and stick to it and not venture towards the eye-catching advertisements.

Don’t buy things just because they’re cheap. Buy only what you actually need.

Stick to your budget. This will force you be more creative with your recipes and pay more attention to your nutritional needs.

Compare prices. Most grocery stores post the “price per ounce” along with the cost of a product.

Shop for grocery store baked goods early in the day. That is when bakeries mark down their day-old items.

Shop for grocery store meat later in the day. That is when the meat department marks down the items about to go past the “sell by” date. This meat is perfectly safe and can be frozen for later use.

Consider buying private-label or store brands. In many cases, these rival the quality of the well known brands, but at a significantly lower cost.

Avoid processed foods. They may be convenient, but they’re usually expensive and less nutritious. Buy cheap, healthy foods that are easy to fix, such as whole grain pasta, legumes and lentils.

Select plant proteins. Include grains, legumes and nuts. Animal products can be very expensive. Meatless Monday is a public health campaign associated with the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. It encourages people to give up meat once a week to cut the intake of saturated fat.
