Ireland and Hungary Raise Fresh Concern for Europe

Ireland and Hungary Raise Fresh Concern for Europe

Europe’s debt problems are far from over, as Ireland’s debt rating dropped, and negotiation between International Monetary Fund and Hungary came to a stalemate. As per Moody’s Investors Service research, Ireland government’s bonds rating dropped from Aa2 from Aa1. This drop in rating suggests weakening economy and rising debt, which is certainly a concern for the country. The financial strength of Irish government dropped significantly, but gradually, which is considered to be the primary reason of this fall in rating. The financial sector took a hit early in 2008, and it’s been worsening since then. Besides, tax revenue of the country dropped considerably, which was a major contributor to government funds. The debt to equity ratio had dropped to 64% last year, and it’s falling  [...]

Lunch With Warren Buffett Can Cost You $2.6 Million

Recently, an anonymous bidder agreed to pay $2.6 million to have lunch with Warren Buffett, the billionaire investor who owns Berkshire Hathaway (BRKA). Last here, the figure was $1.7 million, and $2.1 million in 2008. This clearly shows that Buffett hasn’t lost his charm in spite of bruising his prediction-abilities, when he invested in Moody’s (MCO) and Goldman Sachs (GS), the two companies that were responsible to fuel the housing bubble fire. Two of his picks were responsible for the economic crisis that we recently had experienced. Yet, he is one of the richest man in the country, and is being followed by major businessmen around the globe. His investment strategies, though sometimes they may not help, are simple yet tremendously effective. This is the reason why people agree  [...]

The visit, starting on Monday till Tuesday evening, would be followed by a speech to the nation later that night on what the next steps would be. Tax Credit Deadline May Extend

Tax Credit Deadline May Extend

If amendment put forth by Senate on Thursday becomes a law, homeowners could get a little more time to avail $8,000 federal income tax credit. As of now, contracts should have been signed by April 30, and the deal should be closed by June 30, 2010. If such is the case, first time home buyers can get a tax credit of $8,000, and the ones who owned a home, and lived in it for more than five years in the last eight years are eligible to receive tax credit of $6,500. However, as discussed on Thursday by Senate Majority Leader harry Reid, Senate Johnny Isakson, and Senate Chris Dodd, the last date to close the deal can extend up to September 30, 2010. This extension, said senators, would provide banks some more time to ensure all the transactions are processed, particularly short sales, which usually  [...]

Is Barack Obama the Antichrist?

Is Barack Obama the Antichrist?

Many people all over the world believe our President, Barack Obama is the antichrist. Recently some videos were socialized, which shows that he is, in fact, an antichrist. Really, Jesus actually said it. Huh? I guess you don’t believe me. He really said Barack Obama is an antichrist. It goes something like this. I guess we have all read bible, except for some antichrists from President’s gang, and it says: ‘I beheld Satan as lightning falling from the heavens.’ Now, if you all don’t remember, let me remind you that Jesus never spoke English. He used Aramaic, a language quite similar to Hebrew, to communicate with every one. ‘Lightening’ in the above sentence means ‘baraq’. Wow! That’s interesting. Next, in Hebrew, the heavens means ‘bamah’. An when you connect two words  [...]

Scarlett Johansson about to lose $2 Million

Scarlett Johansson about to lose $2 Million

Recent crash in the real estate market has affected almost everyone. However, it was believed that celebrities’ home were quite an exception. True, even I believed until now. Scarlett Johansson, famous Hollywood celebrity for those who don’t know much about her, purchased a house for $7 mn in the year 2007. However, the value of this house, according to current market trend, is mere $4.59 mn. For those who can afford it (obviously another celebrity, who else can buy it), it is definitely an excellent deal. These pictures of the house were released by CNN Money, the news media that first gave the report the celebrity’s intention. Looking at these pictures, it’s quite disappointing that Scarlett is compelled to sell such a remarkable and gorgeous home, for unknown reasons. We never quite  [...]

Bloggers Beware – You Could Be Fined For Taking Gifts For Endorsing!

Bloggers Beware – You Could Be Fined For Taking Gifts For Endorsing!

One of the primary reasons that I started blogging was because a blog is a weblog, i.e. a kind of a personal diary where you write your heart out on any issue or happening occurring in the world around you. A blogger is a free bird, who puts forward purely personal opinion uninfluenced by any external agency. But as social opinion on the cyber forums started gaining importance as the biggest communication mode, blogging also came under the roving eyes of business people, politicians and other influential members of society. To an opportunistic eye, every thing that draws its attention is a resource for making money or getting fame. So it did not take these highly ‘innovative people’ to use bloggers to endorse their products. Just like celebrities and models the bloggers too became the tools  [...]

Go Local For A Greener And Richer Community!

Go Local For A Greener And Richer Community!

A few days ago, I needed a pair of shoes badly and was contemplating a good buy. The posh store selling international brands next door flaunts of some really awesome footwear. I am tempted to buy my new pair from there but nowhere else. But then, the present day altruistic movement of encouraging local business for a number of community benefits is coaxing my ethical senses. Therefore I want to weigh the pros and cons of making local purchases. Here are some reasons that seem to surface when you compare a local purchase with a non-local purchase. Why I should make a local purchase: Coming to the quality of products, local markets have pulled up very much in their standards. If not better, you can expect local made products as not bad. Of course, in no way they come close to branded products  [...]
