How To Control Uncontrollable Factors Influencing Auto Insurance Premium

Auto insurance premiums are high and though there are some ways in which you can control them, there are other ways in which you cannot control them. So here let’s see what those factors are that you can do little or nothing about.

  • Your age is the most important factor when it comes to deciding upon the auto insurance premiums. If you are young, just somewhere around twenty years of age, you can expect to get insurance at a lower premium but once you cross 40 years of age the premium that you pay will be much higher. So start early in life when it comes to insurance. Don’t think about insurance at all after you cross fifty or sixty years of age unless the insurance company comes up with a specific policy for you.
  • The fairer sex gets to pay lower premiums. Yes, women tend to get discounted premium payment benefits. They are expected to be safer drivers but this might not always be true. So if you are a woman you are safe.
  • If you are a resident of a high accident prone zone, you have to pay up higher insurance as the risk of your vehicle meeting with an accident remains high. So why don’t you move up to safer grounds then? You not only pay low premium but ensure a longer risk-free life for yourself.
  • Your driving history is of great importance when it comeslower auto insurance premiums to deciding upon the premium you’ve got to pay. Be a reckless driver with a lot of accidents to your credit, your auto insurance company is going to honor you with a high premium account. They usually look into the past three years and if you’ve got a clean record you get some perks that lower your premiums. Don’t worry about any parking slips if you’ve got some because they really don’t look at those.
  • If you are married you pay lesser insurance premium than single drivers. So if you are single, here’s another good reason for you to get married.
  • Educated people run a lower record of accidents than the uneducated lot. Well, this is just a hypothesis. Not that it is proven because there are many educated people who consume alcohol, do brash driving and get themselves into trouble. But an insurance company might feel that educated people are more responsible drivers.
  • Apart from occupation, your college degrees also matter when it comes to insurance.  Alumni of certain colleges get discounts in comparison to others.
  • Your experience as a driver- the more numbers of years, you’ve driven the lesser insurance  premium you pay
  • On-job usage of vehicles- If you use your vehicle on-job, in all probability you pay higher premiums.
  • If you insure more than one vehicle at a time, your premium on each vehicle is discounted.

Go through all these options and turn them to your advantage. See what best you can do for each situation and get a good discount on your auto insurance premiums.

  1. Didn’t know about the college factor. Will definitely be checking that out with my insurance company. I’ve heard somewhere that red cars may have higher insurance policies? Can anyone clarify that for me?

Young, newly licensed drivers are the most likely to get into accidents, and insurance companies price for them accordingly.

If your child gets his or her drivers license, you must pay the extra premium, and the price increase will probably shock you.

It can be hard to make your kid wait to drive, but if insurance bills are already stretching you thin, it may be the best choice.

If your child already has a license, you may be able to exclude him or her from coverage by signing an exclusion form.

Rates usually go down a little after the driver turns 18, and the price plummets later, usually at age 21 and/or 25.

    Cheers :-)
