Lost Job? Don’t Worry

The companies are not finding way to cop up the high production cost and hence cutting jobs of the employees to yield lower production cost. The purchasing power of the people has gone down considerably. Every now and then people are asking just one question, “When will this recession end?”

Here, we should understand one thing that every recession has an end and it is bound to come if we cop up with the problems calmly and with a great patience. Just stay professional, stay calm and stay prepared so that you can survive whatever the job market throws your way.

Here we have some tips to tall you that even if you have lost job, you haven’t lost the world. If you deal with the problem nicely, there is a solution in every problem and also a new way of teaching a good lesson by God. So, just focus that lesson rather than worrying about the future, in which you can’t change much by crying.

  • Negotiate nicely
    Even if you have some doubt of weak results of your company and find some chances of being fired off, just make focus on possible severance packages offered in your company. If you are laid off, negotiate for a layoff package just as you would for a salary. To successfully cope with job loss, ask if you can cash in vacation, sick or personal days; determine how long insurance will run; and look into extension of any other benefits.
  • Go to GovernmentIf you are laid-off, you still have a choice of filing name for the unemployment benefits from their state. To cope with job loss, file as soon as possible because it could take several weeks to receive a check. Contractors and part-time workers are ineligible to receive unemployment benefits. The new stimulus law increases the amount of unemployment benefits and continues the extension that allows people to receive benefits for 33 weeks instead of the old 26 weeks. In addition, unemployment benefits will not be taxed up to $2,400. So, don’t be worried hardly and harshly, just have the benefits of the stimulus package meantime.
  • Speak up loudly
    Don’ stays at home by thinking some possible worse situation, make a move and just believe that you are given a comfortable chance to meet people and to search some good option for the new job. Go to coffee house, make your own community and have some views of them, also be online and check all the possible possibilities. Talk loudly and make a strong support group.
  • Don’t make a rush
    Don’t make hurry in applying for COBRA. It may be the case that you can find a good opportunity within 60 days and suppose if you don’t find within 55 days, you can file on even 55th day of you job loss. Just make sure to keep aside the possible 1st month premium of COBRA aside and then only apply for it as it may prove you costly. The stimulus law included a subsidy to cover 65 percent of the cost of COBRA premiums for up to nine months for workers laid off between Sept. 1 and Dec. 31, 2008.
  • Retain relations
    Have a close touch with all the colleagues of your old place and also send them regularly the thank-you notes and also the up date of yours to keep a good touch. There are strong possibilities of getting a good opportunity from them if they find some good opportunity.
  • Never lose network

  • Don’t touch the Retirement fund
    The retirement funds must not be touched in any case as some of the people reflexively reach for a 401(k) withdrawal form when laid off. But don’t do that unless absolute necessary. Just think, if you are not able to earn in the working age, how would you earn in the after retirement age? Try something else for the funds but keep the retirement fund aside.
  • Be purely positive
    Never ever lose your positivism. Situations are always temporary but the permanent potential shouldn’t be affected with that. Never lose hopes, try to create opportunity, rather than waiting for it. Dedicate time for all the efforts like networking, online checking, contact making or even the profile preparation.

Just mind that you have lost job and not the life, when situation ask you to leave your thing, it is to offer something better than that. Hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
