Obama’s victorious 100 days in office !!!

Obama’s election as a president is just not good blessing for United States but people all over the world stand by this African-American black president, the first ever in American history. A sharp powerful voice is all set to make difference in this dying world of hypocrites and non-believers, Obama, a word that will surely bring a change, a living change, a future change to this entire globe. There have been lots of issues pending relating to women, terrorists attacks, hijacking of ships by pirates and deadly attacks, etc. By electing this powerful man of words and actions, we are surely going to change our living standards for better and stop such tragedies happening in future.

Although everybody around me knows the first 100 days of Obama in office were full of economic mess mainly because of global recession, there were few ups and downs in the administration, the passing of stimulus bill and all, Obama had a very good beginning and he has taken over the presidential seat with great challenge especially with several threats around. The news of his actions for improvement in economic standards of women have bought smiles everywhere and especially with the new puppy, Bo around it must surely be rejuvenating experience at white house.

There was a great cheer amongst the crows when the very first legislation paper were signed by the new president for the lilly ledbetter fair pay act, the act gives women great footage to fight for better fair pay. It was a long 19 year career at Goodyear tire and rubber company, the case was that she was paid lesser than her male counterparts, so again a women discrimination she filed a lawsuit against the company which was taken to U.S. supreme court, the case has to be filed within 180 days of the act of discrimination in this case from the day her employer started with unfair treatment. The very fact that the case filed was successful and was signed himself by president Obama shows his support for women related issues in any field, given below are some of the facts which are good signs that he is committed to bring about a complete change on women issues:

Women issues were always treated as less priority, with Obama in office we can be sure of getting everything in place, Obama reversed one of the policies which caused greater damage for women in developing nations, the rule that forbids the U.S. government from giving financial aids to organizations which advised women to abort while working, fostered or any such stuff, the companies would be denied financial aid hovering to millions of dollars, this policy would provide help to women in getting their families proper health care.

The passing of stimulus bill will increase the funding for pell education grants, it will also allow more access to colleges for women and men, the grant would also help in job training programs that will train the workers and family planning programs for better understanding.

The white house council on women and girls was created by Obama in the month of March which are headed by his advisors Tina and Valerie, the council is specially formed for inter agency task force which will strengthen women’s economic security that will help women to adjust and achieve work and life balance, for families, prevention of domestic violence and improvement in health care facilities. The council has been formed at its best but some women advocates are of the opinion that this council would be little effective and will have little power. From the time since the task force first came into being there is no cabinet level leader, nor any full time staff, we hope to see first lady Michelle Obama is set on council’s work and fulfill her promise of promoting work life balance for working couples and parents.

Overall, the concerned topic here is that of women’s issues and up till now we have seen a very good beginning but we should know that its just a start and might take longer time to get into execution specially that of a ledbetter bill and we are anxiously waiting for paycheck fairness act so that women have better rights as good as men. The act would provide stronger incentives to women and the 1963 equal pay act would be updated as per the new agreements, this will help women who can seek compensations, if any or punitive damage due to unequal pay rights.

The recession time has bought so many changes to economies world wide but stronger ones are those which have been handled by women as women tend to think more twice and logically before taking in any major decisions relating to companies or financial concerns, we have seen lots of families where women are the soul earners today especially during recession time, women are all set to become majority at work forces everywhere and change the economic meltdown.
