Sample Sale Traps You Should Be Aware Of

You’ve always wanted to dress up like a super model. But the dresses that super models wear are very highly priced. So you compromise with a snazzy piece from a sample sale. After all, chances are, you’ll be getting the same high fashion garments for about 20 % of the original price. The coming Spring Fashion Week 2010 might offer you designer garments at a discount of about 80 %. With such a sale, your immediate reaction will be to run to the stores and grab the opportunity. But you should be aware that sample sales, though not all, are full of baits to trap you and you should be careful of those. The logic is very simple, why should a company offer you huge discounts unless it is benefited in someway?

These items sold on sample sales, are not the ones that you see models wearing. So you need not be excited about buying the ones made for models. The garment companies are just trying to get rid of their excess stuff at a time when sales are the lowest according to the bad economic conditions. Its not only women wear, but children and men wear are also being sold on sample sale. In fact you’ll find sample sales for domestic usage goods as well.

The advantage that you might think of is that you are getting to wear designer clothes, but many a time you might have to compromise with quality as you’ll be getting the last of the stuff with no demand at all. So how do you ensure that you get a good deal? Here are some tips for you for that:

  • Make an informed move- don’t go to any sample sale without getting prior information about the quality and price of products there. Take information from websites like The Daily CandyThe Budget Fashionista and She Finds. They’ll let you know about the best sample sale deals in your city.
  • Check the quality and measurements – The sample sale garments are generally of different dimensions than designer clothesyou might think. They might have been altered for use on the ramps. Just try out these garments, or measure them with a tape or check out the actual sizes at the designer’s website before making the final purchase.
  • Buy at correct prices – Sample sale prices are meant to be lower than wholesale prices. Ideally they should be half the prices mentioned on the sales tag.  If you find that an item is priced higher than the normal discounted value, the chances are that you might find it cheaper at a retail store out there. If you find that the discounted price is too low, check for defects in the garment.
  • Don’t buy low demand clothes – Sample sales might most probably have stuff that has been rejected because nobody bought them. Why do you go to a sample sale in the first place? To buy highly fashionable clothes that have been modeled in, right? Then why should you buy things that don’t have a demand? Always check for demand and latest trends before you buy the clothes.
